Multiple Programs – ACID.EXE

Acid.exe will be found in your c:\program files\sony\acid pro 6.0\ folder. This installs with Sony Acid Pro and Sony Music Studio by Madison Media Software, Inc (a Sony subsidiary). ACID music creation products allow you to simply select audio loops from an explorer window, drag them onto the program's track view, and arrange them into multiple-track projects. You'll find more information at http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/products/acidfamily.asp. These are legitimate applications and this instance of the file is safe to have around.

We also found some malicious instances of the file. Acid.exe isntalls with a remote access tool called Acid Reign Trojan, The Warmcom Trojan, the AcidShiver Trojan, and backdoor.AcidBattery. This Trojans were designed to give a remote user access to your computer. If you have a malicious instance of this file, we'd recommend removal using WinPatrol. First, kill it under Active Tasks then remove it from your Startup Programs. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later, right click the file then select "Delete file on Reboot". Finally, reboot your system.
