Adware Alert – ADAWARE.EXE
If you have a file called "adaware.exe" on your hard drive, it's likely that you have a new variant of the RapidBlaster Adware program. This file tries to look legit by using a name similar to LavaSoftUSA's Spyware program called "AdAware". But the executable for that program is called "ad-aware.exe".
After installing on your system, this file contacts its controlling server where it gets a random filename and folder name. It then creates the folder and copies itself there. It then deletes the "adaware.exe" file. We'd recommend disabling this file immediately using WinPatrol. Before you reboot your system, make a note of all the folders on your C drive. The next time you boot your system, look for any new strangely named folder.
Again, a file called "ad-aware.exe" is a legitimate file that installs with LavaSoftUSA's spyware program. A file called "adaware.exe" is evidence of RapidBlaster. For background info on RapidBlaster and detailed removal instructions, visit http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/RapidBlaster.html.
