Adobe_updater.exe runs to notify you of updates that are available for your Adobe Acrobat PDF file reader. If you agree, it will download and install updates and then nag you to restart your system. Some updates are necessary to plug security holes in your Adobe PDF browser plugin. But many find utility to be annoying. You can configure Adobe Update options from within your reader.
