Multiple Programs – ALARM.EXE
Alarm.exe is the executable for the Talking Alarm Clock by Cinnamon Software. It uses Microsoft® Agent to show a talking animated alarm. The alarm can also play any sound you choose and includes a handy snooze button. The program includes a system tray icon and an alarm setup wizard. More information can be found at http://www.cinnamonsoftware.com/alarm_clock.htm.
Alarm.exe also installs with Alarm++ by 12Noon. More info can be found at http://www.12noon.com/alarm.htm.
There are many other programs using a file called alarm.exe. Most are alarm clocks or reminder progarms. Some are addins for other programs such as an alarm clock that works with data in Microsoft Outlook. You'll also find an alarm program that works with Corel's WordPerfect Office Suite.
In general, if you have alarms or reminders setup, the alarm.exe file will need to be running. It compares the date and time from your system clock to the date and time of your reminder. When there's a match, the alarm sounds. Removing the file will disable the alarm functions. If you don't use alarms or reminders, then you can remove this file using WinPatrol.
