Adware Alert – AUTOUPDATER.EXE

Applicationupdater.exe installs with SearchSettings from Spigot Inc. This file appears to redirect traffic to searchsettings.com. It is widely considered to be adware. Unfortunately this file installs with the free, open source PDFCreator at SourceForge.net. Adware is rarely bundled with open source software. Luckily, disabling this file using WinPatrol doesn’t seem to prevent PDFCreator from working. You'll find more information on PDFCreator at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/. We'd recommend removing this file using WinPatrol. First, kill it under Active Tasks. Then remove it from your Startup Programs. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later; right click the file then select "Delete file on Reboot". Finally, reboot your system and make sure the file is really gone.
