ArcSoft Connect – CHECKUPDATE.EXE

Checkupdate.exe installs with ArcSoft Connect. ArcSoft Connect provides product management and updates for ArcSoft applications. ArcSoft Connect will be automatically launched while running ArcSoft product, and its tray icon will display in system tray which locates at bottom right corner of the screen. Checkupdate.exe is run to check for updates to installed ArcSoft products. You'll find more information at http://www.arcsoft.com/public/download/arcconnect.asp. If you want to get rid of ArcSoft connect, use WinPatrol to disable checkupdate.exe in your Startup Programs and Acdaemon.exe in your Services.

Because it is a common name, it's possible that other programs may install a file called checkupdate.exe.
