Content Indexing Service Helper - CISVC

Most commonly, CISVC is part of the "Content Indexing Service" that indexes contents and properties of files on local and remote computers; providing rapid access to files through a flexible querying language.

If turned on, you should be able to search for files, folders, or strings within files more quickly and efficiently. This option is available on Windows XP Home and XP Pro. You can turn this service on or off by going to your START menu, picking SEARCH then scrolling down to "Change Preferences". CISVC monitors the memory usage of Microsoft Indexing Service (cidaemon.exe) and automatically restarts cidaemon.exe if it uses more than 40Mb of memory.

If running server software (windows 2000 server, Microsoft Exchange Server, etc), CISVC may also be the Index Server Catalog.
