Disk Cleanup – CLEANMGR.EXE

CLEANMGR.EXE and CLEANMGR.DLL are part of Microsoft's Disk Cleanup Tool. These are Windows files. Disk Cleanup will remove unnecessary files from your hard drive. THis includes Temporary Setup Files, Downloaded Program Files, Temporary Internet Files, Offline Web Pages, Debug Dump Files, Old ChkDsk Files, Recycle Bin, Temporary Remote Desktop Files, Setup Log Files, Temporary Files, and Web Client/Publisher Temporary files. Disk Cleanup can also compress old files and catalog files for the Windows Content Indexer.

It's possible to run this program manually by going to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. But it's most common for this to show up as a scheduled task that runs once weekly, monthly, etc.

If this file appears in Task Scheduler and you want to get rid of it, go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks.
