Spyware – CleanUp by Gratisware

Most cleanup utilities claim to clean up your hard drive by removing files from your browser cache, removing cookies, and removing temporary internet files. There are many such programs including CleanUp by Freebies4ya and Complete Cleanup by Justtext. The CleanUp utility by Gratisware is spyware and should be removed from your system. The others can be run manually and don't need to run on startup.

We hadn't seen complaints on the other programs. But we'd recommend letting WinPatrol manage your cookies. And you can clean your browser cache manually. MSIE users click TOOLS then OPTIONS then click [delete files] under "Temporary Internet Files".

A file called "cleanup.exe" may also install with other programs acting as a way to uninstall that program and example of this is found in AQUA medical dispatch software here: http://www.prioritydispatch.net/main.html. This file doesn't need to run on startup.
