Backgorund task or Network utility - DAEMON
Webopedia defines a "Daemon" as a process that runs in the background and performs a specified operation at predefined times or in response to certain events. There are many programs that install a file called daemon.exe. Most often it seems to exist in a networked environment.
Some common uses of daemon.exe include:
1. Daemon.exe or daemon32.exe pre-loads game profiles for MS Sidewinder game controllers prior to release 2.0 of the software.
2. Daemon.exe installs as part of database applications including Oracle 8.x, SQL and PostgreSQL.
3. Daemon.exe may install as a part of the daemon tools utility. www.parasys.co.uk
4. Daemon.exe may install with a networking fax/print server from Castelle called "FaxPress 6.x". http://www.castelle.com/
Because so many programs install a file by this name, we can’t recommend removal unless you'd determined which program installed it.
