Disk Defrag – DISKDEFRAG.EXE
Diskdefrag.exe is the executable for Auslogics Disk Defrag. Defrag is short for "Defragment". Windows tries to use all of the space on your hard drive. If there isn't enough space to save a program in one hunk, it will save parts of the program in different places. When you delete files, new spaces are opened. After a great deal of saving and deleting, you end up with most of your programs fragmented. This can make them take longer to load as they have to be located a put back together. The solution is to defragment the drive. During this process, programs are read, sorted and resaved so that each program, if possible, is saved in one continuous hunk.
This file doesn't necessarily need to be running all the time. You can run it manually when you want to defrag your drive or drives. But once it is started, it should be allowed to finish without being terminated. It you try to kill it while it's working, you could lose data.
