Ask.com Toolbar – GENERICASKTOOLBAR.DLL

Files called genericasktoolbar.dll, asktbar.dll, askbar.dll, askbar2.dll and ajbar0.dll install with the Ask Toolbar for Internet Explorer. This toolbar available from ask.com lets you search the web, your desktop or your email and personalize your search with saved locations, local news, etc. You can save web pages, images or searches and you can read the latest news if your toolbar.

More information can be found at http://dl.ask.com/toolbar/download.html. Ask.com has gotten some bad press for the way it installs with 3rd party programs. Some feel that it isn't clear the toolbar is being installed. If you like having this toolbar available in Internet Explorer, leave these files in place. If not, the toolbar can be uninstalled via Control Panel Add/Remove Progarms or they can be disabled/removed using WinPatrol.
