Possible Virus Alert – LOCK.BAT

A file called lock.bat may be used to lock or deny access in Windows XP or 2000. One example can be found at http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=70. This may be used by a site administrator to restrict access or prevent users from making changes to certain programs. This instance of the file is legitimate.

Unfortunately, a file called lock.bat installs with the Trojan.BAT.noshare.i. We'd recommend removing this file. If files called newuser.bat, pr0tex.bat, or secure.bat appear on your system, remove those as well. To do so, maximize WinPatrol and click "Active Tasks". Kill any of these files that appear there. Next, remove these files if they appear under Startup Programs or IEhelpers. More info can be found at http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/t/trojan_bat_noshare.asp.
