SoundMAX - PMPROXY.EXE

Pmproxy.exe is part of the SoundMAX software (version 4.x or later) by Analog Devices. It comes installed on many motherboards that have integrated audio including computers by Dell, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu-Siemens, IBM, Intel, Legend, ASUS, MSI, NEC, Sony, and Toshiba. You'll probably find this file in C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\PmProxy.exe.

SoundMAX enables computers to support today's hottest features such as 5.1 channel surround sound output, advanced game audio effects, digital S/PDIF output, and stereo array microphone input. This file is not absolutely required. Your sound card will still produce sound using the Windows driver set. But removing the file may result in a loss of functionality related to sound in game programs. If you opt to remove it, please do so using WinPatrol. If you can't hear any difference in sound, leave it disabled. If you do notice a difference, simply re-enable it.
