Fakeware Alert – PTHREADVC2.DLL
Files called Desktop Security 2010.exe, securitycenter.exe, gedx_ae09.exe, jkfuckjs.exe, kgn.exe, kilslmd.exe, kn.a.exe, hjengine.dll, daily.cvd, pthreadvc2.dll, taskmgr.dll, and randomly named files ending in .exe install with Trojan.FakeAlert-DesktopSecurity. Generally you'll see a popup telling you that your system is infected and offering a free scan. If you agree, these files are installed on your system. False positives are reported to scare you into purchasing the program so the so-called infections can be removed. You'll find more information at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-desktop-security-2010.
We'd recommend removing these files using WinPatrol. First, kill them under Active Tasks. Then remove them from your Startup Programs, IE Helpers, and Hidden Files (if present). To do so, right click each file then select "Delete file on Reboot". Be on the lookout for randomly named files that have no company or copyright info. Finally, reboot your system then check to make sure the files are really gone.
