Setup.exe

Setup.exe is a common name used for the file one runs to install a number of programs. This filename is in use by so many commercial and shareware programs, it is difficult to narrow the field. Here are a few examples:
Setup.exe installs Cygwin. More info can be found at http://www.cygwin.com/.
Setup installs the Microsoft .NET Framework. More info can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=BF253CFD-1EFC-4FC5-BA7E-6A6F21403495&displaylang;=en.
Setup installs Microsoft Office. More info can be found at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011513661033.aspx.

A discussion of the Microsoft Installer can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;227091.

Typically, once a program has been installed, the file is no longer required. But it is generally recommended to keep the file in the event that a program may need to be reinstalled.

If Setup.exe appears as an active task and you've just installed a program, try rebooting your system. That may get rid of it for you.
