Multiple Programs – SYSMONITOR.EXE
Sysmonitor.exe will appear in your c:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Monitor\ folder. It installs with Avaya's IP Office, a call center management program marketed to small and medium-sized businesses. Sysmonitor.exe is also the Acer Empowering Technology Monitor. This file will appear in your Windows\System or System32 folder. This program comes installed on Acer Travelmate and other laptop computers. This software promises up to 20 percent more battery life over standard Microsoft Windows profiles, a range of intelligent power schemes, four pre-defined modes (Entertainment, Presentation, Word Processing, and Maximum Battery Life), and a battery usage alarm to ensure you never run out of power. Sysmonitor.exe also installs with a malicious program. This instance of the file will appear in your Windows\System or System32 folder. It installs with Win32.Rbot.CRD. This worm sets itself to run on system startup and can allow a remote user to access your system. This user could download, install, run or delete files and could browse the web appearing to be you. Because this is a common name, it's possible that there are other programs using it.
