Windows Vista Task Agent – TASKENG.EXE

Taskeng.exe is the Windows Vista Task Agent. It is the task scheduler service that is responsible for tracking scheduled tasks and running them at the predetermined date and time. We'd recommend leaving this file in place.

Some users report that this file is using up to 90% of available resources. If you experience this, you may want to maximize WinPatrol then go to your Services tab. Deselect "List Non-Microsoft Services Only" to locate taskeng.exe. Click Info then use the dropdown menu to change it from "Automatic" to "Disabled". If you have tasks scheduled that you want to run while you're away from your PC, re-enable this service before leaving.
