Windows 7 TaskHost – TASKHOST.EXE

Taskhost.exe comes installed as part of your Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 operating system. As such, you should leave this file in place and let it do its thing. Taskhost is responsible for managing any processes running as DLLs. It does not manage EXEs (executable programs). If your system hangs on system shutdown or you receive a message that says "1 program still needs to close: (Waiting for) Task Host Window", you'll find a fix at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975777.
