The Bat! Email Program – THEBAT.EXE

Thebat.exe is the executable for "The Bat!", a shareware email program by Ritlabs. TheBat offers secure layer POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP support, it works with antivirus software, it has a built-in anti-spam program, it warns of suspicious attachments, and it doesn't rely on the Windows Address Book thereby avoiding some email viruses. It lets you create very configurable message templates and offers a 'news ticker' style alert for new incoming mail.

If you want these features, then leave this file in place. If you frequently check mail and want incoming message notification, it may make sense to let the file run all the time. If you don't use this program, this file can be removed via WinPatrol or the program can be uninstalled via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
