TiVo Home Media – TRANSCODINGSERVICE.EXE

Transcodingservice.exe and tivoserver.exe install with Tivo Desktop and Tivo Desktop 2. You probably got this software when you purchased your TiVo digital recorder and signed up for the TiVo Service. Tivoserver.exe is required when using Tivo Home Media features. You'll find it in your c:\Program Files\TiVo\Desktop\ folder. When loaded, it can stream MP3/audio files from your computer to your TV or home theater. It only need to be running when you're playing/streaming files. The transcoding service is used when changing file formats.
