USB Port Monitor – UMONIT.EXE
Umonit.exe is short for "usb monitor" that was originally developed by General Software, a company that specializes in firmware updates. More information can be found at http://www.gensw.com/pages/keyinit/usb.htm.
It generally loads on system startup and keeps an eye on your USB ports. When a USB device has been plugged in, it alerts you. This is generally done by way of an icon in your system tray. This utility often comes bundled with USB card readers, MP3 players, and flash drives. If you're running Windows XP, you probably don't need this file. The generic Windows drivers can keep an eye out for your USB devices.
