Microsoft Activation Technologies – WATADMINSVC.EXE

Watadminsvc.exe and npwatweb.dll install with your Windows 7 operating system. These files belong to the Windows Activation Technologies (WAT). WAT is the new name for Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA). After you install most Microsoft programs, it's necessary to "activate" them online to insure that you have a legitimate copy of the program. These files are aimed at preventing product activation hacking. If you had a hacked copy of Windows 7, WAT will actually modify the operating system, removing or changing features to encourage you to buy the real deal. You'll find more information at http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/features/2009/May09/05-07Piracy.mspx.

The best thing you can do in dealing with these files is to register and activate your program. If you remove the files using WinPatrol, Windows 7 or other Microsoft products may stop working or functionality may be lost.
