Block Level Backup Engine Service – WBENGINE.EXE

Wbengine.exe is the Windows Block Level Backup Engine service. It's used by the Backup and Restore Center Control Panel in all versions of Windows Vista. It performs a complete Disk-Image, block-level backup and recovery of data on your system. If you've used this to restore Windows Vista by using a "Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore Image" and find that you can't install some programs, you'll find help at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932142. If you use this backup and restore functionality, you'll want to let this service run as either 'automatic' or 'manual'. If you don't see this file under your Services tab, make sure you don't have "List Non-Microsoft Services Only" checked.
