Virus Alert – WINDOWS.EXE
A file called windows.exe is not a valid Microsoft file. It installs as part of the W32.HLLW.Nulut worm. This worm spreads across weakly protected networks, over P2P file sharing networks such as Kazaa, and via attachment to email. A file celled inportant.exe may also appear on your system. This worm can cause system instability and it may generate false error messages reporting low system resources, low ram, and errors in prexus.dll.
We'd recommend removing this file using WinPatrol. First, kill windows.exe in your Active Tasks. If important.exe or prexus.dll appear there, kill those as well. Next, remove these files from your Startup Programs and IE Helpers. If you're running WinPatrol 8.x or later, right click each file then select "Delete file on reboot".
