Adware Alert – ADVANCEDBAR.DLL

Advancedbar.dll is the browser helper object that installs with the Advanced SearchBar (also called the Advanced Search Toolbar). This toolbar includes an ad blocker, a time sync utility, and access to games and utilities but it is known to hijack web searches to its controlling server. More information can be found at http://www.advancedsearchbar.com/. Some have claimed that this is adware. The privacy statement at AdvancedSearch says otherwise.

If you intentionally installed this toolbar and enjoy using it, leave the file in place. Otherwise, we'd recommend removing it using WinPatrol. First, go to your Active Tasks tab. Kill any of these files that appear there: advancedbar.dll, advanc~1.dll, toolbar.dll, hpp.exe, ssl.exe, and searchbar setup.exe. Next, remove the exe files from your Startup Programs and the dll files from your IE Helpers.
