Microsoft Alerter - ALRSVC.DLL
Alrsvc.dll is a service provided by Microsoft as part of your Windows operating system. It Notifies selected users and computers of administrative alerts. If the service is stopped, programs that use administrative alerts will not receive them. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
If the Messenger service (msgsvc.dll) isn't running, the alerts won't go anywhere. Windows XP Pro users who have installed SP2 will find this service disabled. For all other versions of Windows, the default setting for this service is "manual". We'd recommend leaving it in place.
