Adware Alert – BTIEIN.DLL

BTIEIN.DLL is the installer control for both the MSLink and BTLink variants of the HuntBar browser toolbar. This spyware program is a search-hijacker from Traffic Syndicate. The Huntbar BTLink variant can instantly redirect you when browsing targeted web pages. Generally this is done to hijack affiliate fees from merchant sites.

HuntBar BTLink tracks domains browsed and keywords used at various search engines. HuntBar BTLink can download code from it's controlling server (primarily dst.trafficsyndicate.com). It can also cause system instability. We'd recommend removing it and a related file called BTLink.DLL.

This BHO will appear in Control Panel > Add/Remove programs as either "Internet 404" or "Tools for Internet Explorer". Unfortunately uninstalling these files in this way won't really rid you of the spyware. So your best bet will be to remove these fiels using WinPatrol. First, kill them under Active Tasks then remove them from your IE Helpers. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later, right click each file then select
