Adware Alert - DESKADSERV.EXE

DeskAdserv.exe installs with a variant of the Windupdates adware program. It will appear in your c:\Program Files\DeskAd Service\ folder. This program tracks your browsing habits and then delivers targeted popup ads.

We'd recommend using WinPatrol to remove this file. First, go to your Active Tasks. Kill any of these programs you find there: deskadserv.exe, winadserv.exe, winservad.exe, winctlad.exe, winctladalt.exe, winadctlx.dll, winadalt.exe, winadtools.exe, winadctl.exe, winratchet.exe. Sometimes this program comes bundled with another adware program called Windupdates. So if you find winupdt.exe, winka.exe, wincommx.dll, or cdt_bbi8016.exe running; remove those too. Next, proceed to your Startup Programs and remove any of these files that appear there. If you run WinPatrol 8, you have the option of right-clicking each file then selecting 'Remove on Reboot'. Finally, reboot your system.

If you look in your Program Files folder, you may see sub-folders called Windows AdTools, Windows AdControl, and Windows ControlAd. If they do appear, it should be safe to get rid of those.
