My Way IE Helper – DESRCAS.DLL

Desrcas.dll installs with an IE helper object called "MyWay", "MySearch", "MyWay Search Assistant", "My SearchBar" or "My Bar". You'll probably find this file in your C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\ folder. These are homepage and search page hijackers targeted to sites run by www.myway.com. A newer variant that also installs desrcas.dll is called "MyWeb" is targeted as www.mywebsearch.com.

These programs often download with Grokster, Morpheus, and other P2P file sharing programs. So far as spyware is concerned, these files are relatively tame. They do reset your home page and hijack web searches but do not generate popup ads or track your browsing habits. The MyWeb variant is more of a security risk because it can download code from "Fun Web Products" without your knowledge or permission.

These programs often download with Grokster, Morpheus, and other P2P file sharing programs. We'd recommend removing these files using WinPatrol. First, go to your Active Tasks and kill any of these files that appear on your system: desrcas.exe, mqssrcas.dll, mqsbar.dll, mysrchas.dll, mwsbar.dll, mwsoemon.exe, mwssrcas.dll, my2ns.dll, mybar.dll, mysrchsp.exe, and npmyway.dll. Next, go to your Startup Programs and remove any of the exe files that appear there. Finally, go to your IE helpers and remove the dll files that you find there.

Please notes that removing these files may make it impossible to use Grokster, Morpheus, or the game program that installed them.
