Adware Alert – ICOOUE.DLL

Icooue.dll, icooloader.dll, icoourlext.dll, and icoourl.dll install with a download manager called the Icoo Loader. This file is needed to connect to and download files from the Icoo network by Icoo Soft, Ltd. This is a combination of an FTP download sit eand P2P file sharing network. More info can be found at http://www.icoonet.com. A third file called msopt.dll also installs. This file generates popup ads and will try to reinstall the other files if removed.

We've seen reports from users that a portion of this program stealth installs then pops up a message telling you to install icoo loader any time you start a download from your Internet Explorer browser. If you click 'no', a normal download will start. If you click 'yes', the software will install.

Unless you intentionally installed this program, we'd recommend using WinPatrol to get rid of this program. To do so, go to your Active Tasks list and kill icoourlext.dll, icoourl.dll, and msopt.dll. You'll need to kill these files all at once. To do so, hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard while clicking each of the files. When all are highlighted, click the Kill button. Next, go to your IE Helpers tab and remove the files there.
