Adware Alert – IS-?????.EXE

You may have files starting with IS- followed by a series of letters and numbers including:
IS-1S61P.EXE, IS-2HFS8.EXE, IS-3S4RP.EXE, IS-8CNKQ.EXE, IS-EIFRK.EXE, IS-EP16D.EXE, IS-ERV24.EXE, ISETUP.EXE, IS-F8724.EXE, IS-FQNQQ.EXE, IS-I21D3.EXE, IS-KO6BR.EXE, IS-LJL9L.EXE, IS-N0CFL.EXE, IS-PABTD.EXE, IS-PQT6T.EXE, IS-PS89R.EXE, IS-PU3GI.EXE, IS-Q0EH4.EXE, IS-QTNV3.EXE, IS-S27RR.EXE, and IS-VOKOM.EXE.

Some of these files map back to a hacking site that is used to generate fake email addresses for use by spammers. A few combinations map back to a site selling vanity call signs for ham radio operators. Finally, they may be related a "Venetian Snares", a band by Aaron Funk whose music is frequently traded on P2P file sharing networks. It is unlikely that you'd need to keep any of these files.
