Lycos SideSearch – SEP.DLL

Sep.dll is a browser helper object that installs with the Lycos SideSearch Companion. Sidesearch is a sidebar that appears when using search engines and shopping sites, showing competitor results from its controllers Lycos. It can stealth install along with other parasites including FavoriteMan, IEPlugin and BookedSpace.

If you use this program intentionally, then leave this file in place. Otherwise, we'd recommend removing it using WinPatrol. Go to your Active Tasks and kill the file there. You'll also want to kill any of the following files that appear on your system: sst.dll sidesearch.dll, sidesearch1211.dll, sidessearch1311.dll, sidesearch13218.dll and sidesearch1400.dll. Next, remove these files from your IE Hepers. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later, right click each file then select "Delete file on Reboot".
