Adware Alert – SHPRRPRT.EXE
Files called shprrprt.exe and smrtshpr.dll install with the SmartShopper Adware program. SmartShopper by ZeroMassEngine sells itself as a comparison shopping database designed to help you organize shopping lists into to nicely formatted tables that show you where to get your purchases for the best price.
In reality, this is a Hotbar variant that hijacks web searches, generates popup ads, and stores information about your browsing habits. You may have intentionally downloaded it or it may have installed with Hotbar, another adware program.
We'd recommend removing these files using WinPatrol. First, go to your Active Tasks tab and kill shprrprt.exe and smrtshpr.dll. If you got this along with Hotbar, look for and kill any of the following files that appear on your system: sbinst.exe, hbinst.exe, hbsrv.exe, hbinstie.dll, hotbar.exe, hbcoresrv.dll, hbtoolbar.dll, hbhostoe.dll, hbhostol.dll, and hbhostie.dll. Next, remove the .exe files from your Startup Files and the .dll files from your IE Helpers. If you're running WinPatrol 8.x or later, you have the option of right clicking each file then selecting "Delete file on reboot".
