Multiple Programs – SSHOOK.DLL

Most commonly, sshook.dll will appear in a folder called c:\Program Files\InterMute\spy subtract\. This file installs with SpySubtract, a spyware blocker by Intermute software. A file called spysub.exe will also appear on your system. More information can be found at http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/. Trend Micro, a wellknown antivirus provider has purchased this product. So you'll also see it referred to as Trend Micro Anti-Spyware.

Less commonly, sshook.dll installs with Adware.SurfingSpy. This instance of the file will appear in your Windows folder. Ssystem.exe, setup.exe, and ssadmin.exe may also appear there. If you have this instance of the program, we'd recommend removing it using WinPatrol. First, kill it under Active Tasks then remove it from your IE Helpers. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later, right click the file then select "Delete file on Reboot".
