Fakeware Alert – DCOMCFG.EXE

Dcomcfg.exe, dxole32.exe, stickrep.dll, SpywareQuake.exe and files id####.tmp (where #### are any 4 numbers) install with a fakeware program called SpywareQuake. This program claims to have found spyware on your system and prompts you to remove it. It uses an inadequate detection scheme and is affiliated with other fakeware programs including SpywareStrike, SpyAxe and SpyFalcon. We'd recommend removing this file using WinPatrol. First, kill it under Active Tasks then remove it from your IE Helpers. We'd also recommend removing any files found in your c:\Program Files\SpywareQuake folder. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later, right click each file then select "Delete file on Reboot".
