Symantec Product Protection – SPBBCSVC.EXE

Spbbcsvc.exe is the Symantec Product Protection Service. It installs with Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security 2005. It provides protection for Symantec's antivirus and firewall files. If a malicous file tries to shut down your antivirus or firewall protection, this service will prevent that from happening.

We'd recommend leaving this file in place. If you really want to get rid of it, do it within the program and not using WinPatrol. To do so, go to your Norton Antivirus Control Panel. Select Options then Other. Select Misc then "How to Protect My Product". Click "Disable protection for my Symantec product." Again, we recommend against doing this.

Antivirus programs can only protect you from viruses they know about. So if you don't use the LiveUpdate feature in NAV, be sure to download updated virus definition files at http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html.
