Multiple Programs – MATRIX.EXE

We found many programs using the name matrix.exe.

There are numerous games, screensavers, and desktop wallpaper programs fashioned after "The Matrix" movie trilogy.

Unfortunately, there are also some adware or spyware programs and viruses using this same name hoping to cash in on the movie's popularity. These may appear to be screensavers or games but are malicious. We'd recommend checking WinPatrol's Active Tasks and Startup Programs lists for any of the following files that appear in addition to matrix.exe:
backdoor.matrix.21.exe, client.exe, mainserver.exe, neo.exe, neob.exe, server.exe, server2 (bez konfiga).exe, and the_matrix.exe. If most of these files appear on your system, you may have the Matrix Maverick adware program. More info can be found at http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/m/matrix__maverick_.asp.

Matrix.exe also installs with W32/Spybot-l. This spreads via the Kazaa P2P file sharing community. If you have this instance of the file, you'll find matrix.exe in a folder called "kazaabackupfiles".
