Windows Media Player – MSPSMPSV.EXE and MSPSMPSV.DLL

MSPMSPSV.EXE is the Windows Pre-Message security protocol (WMDM PMSP) service. It installs along with MSPSMPSV.DLL as part of the Windows Media Player V7.x or later under Windows XP and 2000. WMDM PMSP Service. This Service is added during installation of Windows Media Player 7 (Or newer). WMDM (Windows Media Device Manager) PMSP (Pre-Message Security Protocol) is a feature of the Windows Media Format SDK, which supports the SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative) for packaging copyrighted music. This file is required by Windows Media Player.

If you don't see MSPSMPSV.DLL running in your startup or task lists, it may be running under SVCHOST.
