Keyboard Driver or Pre-Load Utility – PRELOAD.EXE
Most commonly, PRELOAD.EXE is a Millenium Multi-Function Keyboard driver. If you want to use programmable keys, then this file will need to be running. But there are a number of other programs using files by this name. In most cases, these files run once and shouldn't need to be running all the time. Here are some exaples:
PRELOAD.EXE is shipped with Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP and is run during the initial operating system setup.
PRELOAD.EXE runs when installing the Windows NT Option Pack.
Microsoft also has a utility called PRELOAD.EXE that checks, fdisks and formats your hard drive for you.
PRELOAD.EXE is a setup and partition program that comes with Seagate's Marathon hard drives.
