Avast Antivirus Updates - ASWUPDSV.EXE

Files called avast.setup, avastXX.setup (where "XX" are some numbers), and ASWUPDSV.EXE are part of the update service for Avast Antivirus 4 by Alwil Software. More information is available at http://www.asw.cz/i_kat_81.html.

It is safe to leave these files in place and it's safe to allow them to connect to the Internet. Antivirus progarms can only protect you against viruses they know about. As new viruses are written, antivirus authors add those to the database of viruses their programs can clean. This data will only do you good if you have it downloaded to your system. The update process described above automates that for you.
