Apple iTunes Daemon – APSDAEMON.EXE

This file was installed with one of your Apple programs like iTunes or QuickTime and runs in the background. Some references online call this file "Apple Push" and many say this file is used to allow wireless sync with your iPhone, iPad or similar device. Like many Apple files it has been known to install and run even if you don't own a iPhone or iPod. Our research found that it was added during the installation of QuickTime.
We also found that APSDAEMON can use more than its share of CPU activity so we recommend removing it from your list of Startup programs. Apple has responded to reports of high CPU usage by blaming it on compatibility with security software.

If you're experiencing high CPU activity we recommend the following tip:

The term Daemon was originally used by programmers at MIT taken from a thought experiment by physicist James Clerk Maxwell. In short, it describes an imaginary being that works constantly in the background sorting moledules.
