Dell System Detect – DELLSYSTEMDETECT.EXE

Dell System Detect is installed by Dell before you every get your computer. It is a program they use to collect software usage data and system configuration information on an ongoing basis.
This program is not malware, but does have many of hte characteristics of SpyWare because it is installed without your asking, although I'm sure their purchase agreement contains implied permission, collects data and transmits it to their servers.

Do I think Dell is doing anything nefarious with this data? No.
Does this program affect your computer's performance? Yes.

If you are considering removing it, please ask yourself these questions.

• Have you ever called Dell for technical support?
• Have you ever gone to a Dell website to download an updated driver or other software?

If you answered no to those, then you are pretty safe to delete this program. Removing this program will not break your computer and if you really want it back I am sure you can go to the Dell website, do a search and they will be happy to put it back, because it is gathering all kinds of great data for them.
