Program Information File or Possible Virus – DETAILS.PIF
Generally files with a .PIF extension are "Program Information Files" created for use with a DOS or command line program. More information on creating and using these files is available on Microsoft's site here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/using/productdoc/en/default.asp?url=/windowsxp/home/using/productdoc/en/windows_pif_create.asp.
Unfortunately, a file called DETAILS.PIF may indicate that your system has been infected with the Sobig.E worm. Generally, this worm is transmitted via email. The attached file would be "your_details.zip". The executable file within this archive is called "details.pif". More information and cleanup instructions can be found at http://www.europe.f-secure.com/v-descs/sobig_e.shtml.
