Microsoft Genuine Advantage – LEGITCHECKCONTROL.DLL

A file called legitcheckcontrol.dll installs with Microsoft's Genuine Advantage. Microsoft describes this as follows: "By using genuine Microsoft software, you can be confident that your software is legitimate and fully supported by Microsoft. Learn more about how Microsoft is working to protect consumers against counterfeit and pirated software below." You'll need to have your copy of Windows registered with Genuine advantage before downloading Windows Update. LegitCheckControl.dll runs to verify that your software is genuine before allowing you to download updates or most of the other software available at Microsoft's site. This file should only need to be running when Microsoft is verifying your software.
