Multiple Programs – LMS.EXE
Most commonly, lms.exe is the Local Manageability Service that supports Intel Active Management Technology on systems based on Intel chipsets. This technology was designed to make it easier for IT Professionals to troubleshoot problems and resolve issues. You'll find more information at http://www.intel.com/technology/platform-technology/intel-amt/.
A file called lms.exe also installs with W32/Agobot-IC. This worm spreads across weakly protected networks taking advantage of Microsoft's RPC/DCOM vulnerabilities. It runs on system startup, tries to modify your Windows HOSTS file, and can allow a remote user to access your system. You'll find more informatoin at http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/viruses-and-spyware/w32agobotic.html. We'd recommend removing this file using WinPatrol. First, kill it under Active Tasks. Then remove it from your Startup Program. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later; right click the file then select "Delete file on Reboot". Finally, reboot your system and make sure the file is really gone.
Because lms.exe is a short and common name, other programs may be using it.
