Multiple Programs – MPLAYER.EXE
A file called mplayer.exe installs with your Windows Media Player. A file called wmsdmoe.dll may also appear on your system. These files don't necessarily need to be running all the time but they will appear when Windows Media Player is running. You'll find more information, support, and the latest downloads for Windows Media Player at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.aspx.
A completely different file called mplayer.exe installs with the Holar.C worm. If you have this instance of the file, another file called "illegal.exe". This is a mass mailing worm that sends itself to any email addresses it can find in your address book or in html pages. We'd recommend removing these files using WinPatrol. First, go to your Active Tasks and kill them there. Next, go to your Startup Programs and remove them there. If running WinPatrol 8.x or later, right click each file and select "Delete file on Reboot". More info on this worm can be found at http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_HOLAR.C.
