Multiple Programs – PATCH.EXE

We found many instances of a file called patch.exe. In many cases, this may be an update or upgrade that only needs to be run once.

Most commonly, patch.exe is the automatic upgrade module for the PC-Cillin Antivirus and PC-Cillin Internet Security by Trend Micro. If you use PC-cillin, then leave this file in place. For more info, visit http://www.trendmicro.com/en/products/desktop/pc-cillin/evaluate/overview.htm. Antivirus programs can only protect you from viruses that they know about. TrendMicro releases updates that cover the new viruses that are appearing on the scene all the time. They call these files "pattern" files. Leaving patch.exe in place will keep these files up to date.
