Volume Shadow Copy Service - VSSVC.EXE
Vssvc.exe is a service provided by Microsoft. It manages and implements Volume Shadow Copies used for backup and other purposes. If this service is stopped, shadow copies will be unavailable for backup and the backup may fail. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

This file is used by Microsoft's backup utility and by some third party backup program providers. If you want to try getting rid of it, locate it under your Services tab and select "Stop". Once you've made sure your backup program will still work, you can modify the setting from "manual" to "disabled".
