Multiple Programs – WINRAR.EXE

Most commonly, winrar.exe is the executable for WinRAR by Rarlab. WinRAR is an archive manager than can compress and decompress RAR, ZIP and other archive file formats. The RAR format is not as popular as ZIP but is still in common use on the net and in file-swapping Usenet Newsgroups. This instance of the file is harmless. It doesn't necessarily need to be running all the time but you'll need it when compressing or decompressing RAR files. If you no longer need this program, your best bet is to uninstall it via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. More information can be found at http://www.rarlab.com/.

If you've never installed such a program, it may have come to you as part of the LOVGATE.AH worm. More info and removal instructions can be found at http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_LOVGATE.AH&VSect;=T.

It may have also installed as part of the Manator trojan. If you have this instance of the file, another file called monatro.exe will appear on your system. We'd recommend removing this file using WinPatrol. First go to your Active Tasks and kill the file there. Next, go to your Startup Programs and remove the file there.
